2nd World Road Conference - “Sustainable Urban Transport Development”
26 to 28 October 2009
The Centre for Liveable Cities (CLC) partners CDIA and LTA to organise the 2nd World Road Conference which would be held at Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 26 to 28 October 2009.
The theme for the Conference is “Sustainable Urban Transport Development” and is especially relevant to urbanised cities facing the daunting task of balancing increasing transport demand and the corresponding impact on the environment. Sustainable urban tansport development encompasses good policies, regulations, decisions, competent operators, use of technologies and best management practices.
CLC and CDIA are jointly sponsoring the participation of some 40 delegates from Asia. Under the invitation of CLC, CDIA speakers would be sharing their knowledge and experiences as panelists at the Conference. CLC and CDIA have also engaged Dr Michael Lindfield, Principal Urban Development Specialist at the Asian Development Bank to share his experience as one of the plenary speakers. The WRC is one of the platforms offered by CLC to facilitate and encourage sharing of knowledge and networking opportunities for Singapore's agencies and partners. Visit WRC's website https://www.wrcsingapore.sg for more details of the event.
CLC will co-organise a co-located event entitled “Moving from planning to implementation – preparing feasible urban transport projects”. Speakers from various regions of Asia would reflect on the lessons learnt during the Conference and discuss on-going transport projects from 3 cities in their co-operation with CDIA. A panel session involving local experts will be organised to share Singapore's experience and discuss innovative transport solutions as the possible next steps for cities facing similar challenges.
